Hello World!

I commute to work. It’s an hour there in the morning and an hour back home in the evening. I get up, take my ADD meds, stop for coffee, and then head out on the open road. On my drive to work in the mornings, I am a genius! I solve all the world’s problems. I figure out just what needs to be done to fix everything.  I see every side to every argument. I’m brilliant.  And then…the meds and caffeine kick in. That’s what happens with an ADD brain. It races. You think all the thoughts. All of them. All at once. By the time I arrive at my office, I’ve slowed down to normal speed, sort of. I also have now forgotten how to bring about world peace. Dammit! Oh well. What can you do? I’ll figure it all out again tomorrow morning.

One morning last week, I was able to hold onto a thought. I should write a blog! So here I am, writing a blog.

Let me introduce myself. My name is Christy. I’m a middle aged wife and mother. I’ve been married 27 years to my husband Jeff. I have 2 kids, a daughter in her 20’s and a 16 year old son. I’m also a bereaved parent. Hunter, my first born, was killed in a car accident when he was only 5 months old. This past January he would have been 25. I’m from West Tennessee. I live in a small town north of Memphis. I am the general manager of a mosquito control company, an Alderman representing my town, a marching band mom, and the secretary on the executive committee of my county’s Republican party. As you can see, I have a crazy, busy life and I LOVE IT!! I’m an extroverted introvert, suffer from anxiety, and ADD. I don’t let those things define me, I use them to my advantage. I love to cross stitch. I’m teaching myself how to hand embroider. I love my car. I mean LOVE my car. It’s a 2017 Mustang GT. It has a 6 speed manual transmission ( a stick shift). I am one with my car. His name is Bruce. Why Bruce you ask? JAWS! Jaws is my all time favorite movie. Yes, I can quote it word for word. Anyway, Steven Spielberg named the mechanical shark Bruce. Also, sharks are my spirit animal. Love sharks! So, of course, I named it after the shark.

I’ve given you a little look into me. I will elaborate further about all the things that make up my crazy life later in future posts. I hope you’ll come back and get to know me better!

Finding Christy is about finding out who I was, who I am, and who I want to become. I’m not the same person I was when I was younger. I’ve worked very hard on being a better me. This is my life’s work. With every new season of my life I’m changing. I’m proud of how far I’ve come. I still have a ways to go. Follow me on my journey. Maybe we can help each other become more.

I’ll leave you with this question….what is one change you’ve made in your life to be a better YOU?

I try to live in the moment and appreciate it! When my mind strays to other troubling things I pull it back as soon as I can.
Hoping your blog is a great success!

I went back to school to become a nurse, I feel that I am a better me because I am doing what I love!!!

Ha! So I didnt know thats where Bruce got his name. Truth be told I’ve not seen Jaws.

How have I bettered myself… that’s a hard one…I feel like the last year has made me a worse person. 😂😂

I don’t it’s made you a worse person. I think it’s helped you learn to know where to draw the line, to decide you’re not taking it anymore. That’s a good thing, in my opinion. I’m still learning that one.

Dang. If you’re middle aged that might make me middle aged too? On your drive tomorrow ponder retracting that one line would you?😂😂

I am trying to shift my focus. I believe God wants so much more for me than to live in negativity. He wants me to realize all of His good and blessings, even when that means suffering through some lessons along the way. But when I listen to Him, He prepares me. I want my daughter to feel that light and love! The best way is for her to see me feeling it! When I focus on the light, even when the shadows creep in they can’t stay!

Girl, I’m a hop, skip, and not even a jump from 50. And let’s face it, there ain’t no way I can physically hop or skip! LOL!! Honestly, my age doesn’t bother me too much. Occasionally, the number does surprise me. And, of course, when I look in the mirror…that can be quite a surprise! Eeek!! I feel like my age is a badge of honor. I’ve earned it!!

My dad believed (and I agree with him) that there are two things in this world that make a man better than he would be on his own, a wife and a dog. The most positive change I’ve ever made in my life was to marry Amanda.
